I really think it's a good idea to write in this topic. it's a good way to
learn vocabulary and grammar but you can't learn only by writing.
Everyone should try to speak with people in real life. For students, you have
the opportunity to meet a lot of erasmus in your schools and it's a great
experience to speak with them in any languages (english, spanish, etc).
well, you must be a teacher of a sort, speaking this
way!
Well, as a matter of fact, I am or was but that's beside the point because I
was brought up in both French and English and like most bilingual Canadians I
should be able to have a good knowledge of both.

Well, I think the second best around here, speaking of teaching matters, is
undoubtfully Bitteulse. Hey, master, aren't you sleeping yet? What do you
think of Mr. Yvon's analysis? Pretty good,
huh? |
Surely !
Actually, I'd never paid much attention to this detail but I'm pretty sure
Yvon's right...I think we should ask a true born american... :
xxxmen007 ! Do you think that the use
of "English language" or "French language" NECESSERALY requires a capital
letter or do you think it's as relevant as writting "it is" instead of
"it's"... ?

Well that detail is as important as the requirement to use a capital in `les
Français`but a small letter in `les citoyens français`.
The capitals in `English and French languages`have nothing to do with ¨it
is¨elided into ¨it`s¨which is the equivalent of ¨cela est¨and ¨c`est¨.
All those nuances (sic) are equally important.

I think so. I'm not english but I have lots of american friends and everytime
they write "French language" or "the English", they always put a capital...I
guess they're right.

ac·tu·al·i·ty ( P ) n. pl.
ac·tu·al·i·ties
1- The state or fact of being actual; reality. See Synonyms at existence.
2- Actual conditions or facts. Often
used in the plural.
The word was proprely use according to the dictionary, even if in America it
fell in dissuse over the years.
There's no such thing as an "obsolete" word... we're just forgetting them.
I almost forgot... The main goal of this topis is to relax, not to be beat on
the ground with lectures.
Was I talking to you, The Dark?
Stop offending me!
Please refrain from meddling with my posts. As you are not the originator of
this thread, it is not up to you to dictate what its goal is.
You are truly unpleasant with your continuous put-downs.
By the way, 'to be beat on the ground' is not proper English.
I apologized at the very outset for sounding 'academic' and 'dogmatic' and
specified I only wanted to help.
What part of that do you not understand?
And you are dead wrong about the use of 'actuality' in English. The word used
for 'actualité' is 'current events'.
